How to stay positive in a negative environment..

How to stay positive in a negative environment..

Or: how to change your outlook by changing your attitude.
Some people are born optimists, some are pessimists, but most of us are somewhere in between.
During our live time we are bound to experience the whole spectrum of emotions at some point. How we deal with it makes the difference.

Trying to stay positive when all around you negativity seems to prevail is not always easy. We often have to work at seeing the good and the beauty of what we experiencing.

So how do we stay positive?
By learning a few steps we can learn to stay positive. It will take some discipline and definitely will not happen overnight. It takes repetition, training, practice and exercise to make a change stick and for it to become a habit.
Sometimes it involves the un-learning of a habit and replacing this with a new learned behaviour. This whole process can be exhausting and frustrating, sometimes seemingly three steps going forward and two backwards. The trick is always is to have the discipline to stick with it. And if we hang on long enough we will see changes, the process will become easier and more natural over time. It is like learning to ride a bike or a new language. At first you struggle, and don’t seem to get anywhere, then all of a sudden things fall into place, like an “AH” moment and it becomes much easier and natural and we don’t really have to think about it anymore.

Loving what you do and doing what you love involves enjoying the skills you developed, to your full potential. This way you have room to focus on the more enjoyable aspects of your game or other skill, whatever this is.

But how does this help me stay positive?
Learning to look at your world with different eyes takes practice and intent. You can see beauty in everything and all situations, if you learn to look for it. Even in the most dreadful situations we can learn to see something positive, but it is not always easy, and often will take work and commitment. Like, looking for the silver lining. It’s there but it is not always directly visible for us. The more we practice, the easier it gets, and the more natural it becomes. Practice makes perfect, no matter what it is you are trying to be good at.
When you make an effort to look for the good and beauty of your circumstances, you will find it also gets easier, and it becomes easier to attract positive and beautiful things into your life.

It has been said that negative begets negative, but the opposite is also true: the more you are aware of the positive, the more times you also will encounter situations that are positive.
Beauty is all around us, we just have to learn to see it.
